Every year at BarcampSaigon, we want to try new things that make BarcampSaigon better. This year, we’re adding several new things that we hope will work. This past summer, we tried having different types of rooms (30 min, 45 min and an Open Room) in case of presentation overflow and this seemed to work well, so we’re getting a bit more ambitious this year and adding some more interesting stuff. So keep these things in mind when you come in this weekend:
- Voting for Rooms: As we learned from BarcampPhnomPenh, they used voting to put topics in rooms and times and we at BarcampSaigon also want to do this. But for us, we’re only going to do voting for the two big rooms: 1.21 and 2.26. Every willing participant will be given a “Topic Submission Form” that they can post on the boards at the front of the hall from 7am until 10am (Registration until end of Opening) and after a 45 minute voting and submitting session, we will give the priority to the sessions that got the most votes.
- T-shirts: As every year it is hard to calculate how many t-shirts we may need due to so many registrations. As there might not be enough, we have defined the following order for distributing t-shirts: 1. Session presenters, 2. Volunteers, 3. People travelling from a foreign country, 4. Registered representatives of sponsors (limited to 2 each) 5. Participants registered ahead of event 6. All other participants. T-shirts will only be distributed at the end of the day.
- Job Board: We’re going to put up a job board for all companies, sponsors, and job seekers that will be coming to BarcampSaigon. This means, if you’re a company, you can post job vacancies available at your company for promising young job seekers. And if you’re a job seeker, you can post your resume up!
- Best Presentation Prizes!: Tiki.vn has graciously offered to give a 200,000 VND sponsor to 5 of the best presentations of the day. This will be a great incentive to presenters to present well and produce topics that are interesting for everyone. So starting at lunchtime we will open up a Google Form at this link for everyone to vote on. At the closing ceremony we will announce the winners and share the prizes.
